Policies and Procedures

Wingfleet Flying Club promises no-hassle flying.

This means no thick rulebook, no meetings, and no bicameral legislature to manage an airplane and its members. We have no president, no secretary, and no grand high air marshal. We DO have awesome aircraft and rates!

We're not trying to create a new secret society or a shadow government. We just want to fly good planes, inexpensively, and with good people. In order to do that, we have these basic requests of our members:

  • Please return the plane in the condition which you found it in. -- if the plane needs a wash, let us know. We try to dispatch the planes with a predictable amount of fuel -- if you do not have the standard amount, let us know. Save a receipt. We'll make it right.
  • There is no minimum or maximum per-day flight time -- want to fly to Yellowstone and fish for a week? So do we! Fly on up. We trust our pilots to exercise good flight judgement, and good consideration for others. We trust you will not book the whole weekend so that you can sit in the plane for 15 minutes and practice your "clear prop!" shout. In exchange, when you want to travel with your airplane -- go for it! (if you catch any fish, we trust you will store them in an odor-containing igloo :) )
  • All aircraft have predictable Maintenance downtimes. These are complex machines. We are offering the following service-level agreements. If your primary plane is down for longer than this amount of time, your dues stop until we get the plane airworthy again.

Annual Inspection - 6 weeks (annually)
Engine Major Overhaul - 8 weeks (every 8-10 years)
Propeller Major Overhaul - 6 weeks (every 8-10 years)
    Autopilot inoperative - 4 weeks
    Bald Tire - 3 days
    Weak brakes - 3 days
Clogged Pitot tube (often in spring) - 2 days

We will add to this list as we encounter each plane's "wear points", but these are the biggies that we can think of. We will strive for maximum uptime, but all aircraft are susceptible to unexpected maintenance.

That's it! - if the aircraft or members are being abused, we may revisit this list, but for now, we trust that our pilots can share aircraft with a minimum of fuss -- and why start out as a dictatorship anyway? :)
